Nang Yai shadow puppet drama is an art form of traditional Thai drama, a combination of different jobs in one. Much attention goes into the design of complex and detailed design of the characters, which is made from a master of art. Once the design is done, it is applied to a piece of leather and embossed with a lot of attention. Subsequently, the etched piece of skin mounted on sticks and life is given to each character of a master puppeteer, in the form of a classicDrama performance, full of live music and Thai singer to provide the narration.

Studies show that Nang Yai shadow play drama existed during the Sukhothai era. But it is almost certain that the main form of this source of art and entertainment during the Ayutthaya era was one and remain there until the first was during Rattanakosin the reign of Rama V (King Chalalongkorn).
